Academies

As part of the academies, the maKeIT team supports you over a longer time in making your research results and knowledge more effective in business and society - however, the shape this will take is up to you. Whether it's optimizing internal processes, educating citizens, generating patents or even launching a startup, maKeIT is about discovering opportunities that fit each individual, their professional focus and community.

To achieve this, we offer three academy formats:

  • HAFIS is targeted at KIT researchers without formal leadership roles and aims to identify and implement concrete projects.
  • InnoSuper is an academy for supervisors of scientific work and supports them in recognizing potentials in the individuals supervised and in identifying ways to implement them.
  • MyAcademy is an internal KIT offer. The individualized academy is suitable for larger groups of researchers.

HAFIS and InnoSuper are jointly designed and implemented by KIT, Forschungszentrum Jülich, Deutsches GeoForschungsZentrum in Potsdam, Gesellschaft für Schwerionenforschung in Darmstadt and Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf.

You are a scientist and want to contribute to the ecological, social or economic development of our society with your research results? You want to test yourself beyond research, explore future career paths for the time after your doctorate, or build skills for professional life? The Helmholtz Academy for Intrapreneurship (HAFIS) offers you the right framework for this!

Most important facts about HAFIS at a glance:

  • Start: November 1, 2023
  • Duration: approx. 9 months | Application deadline: September 30, 2023
  • Effort: maximum 0.5 days per week
  • Target group: KIT researchers without a formal leadership function

How it works:
HAFIS is a project-based academy in which empowerment and project work go hand in hand. It is important to us that own ideas are implemented towards increasing impact in economy and society. Therefore, it is about bringing in something that is based on your interests. We cooperate with experts from academia and business so that you can benefit from their knowledge and experience. In addition, the Academy offers you the opportunity to expand your own network.

Do you supervise scientific work operationally? That means you are a PostDoc or lead a team or group of researchers. Do you want to learn how to support your supervised team members in their ideas and how to integrate transfer projects into the daily research routine? In that case, InnoSuper is made for you!

InnoSuper at a glance:

  • Start: January 1, 2024
  • Duration: approx. six months | Application until: November 30, 2023
  • Effort: approx. 3 -5 working days (depending on individual interview needs)
  • Target group: researchers with an operational support function

How it works:
InnoSuper starts with an e-learning, which will take about 1–2 hours of time and will be done on your own. However, we also make sure you can exchange with others. We organize two workshops where InnoSuper participants from all Helmholtz centers come together. This involves an effort of one working day each. Our program is completed with individual coaching sessions as needed, taking place at the respective center.

Larger research groups, such as a KIT center or a graduate school, often have special challenges when it comes to identifying transfer projects as a whole and anchoring them in the organization. Within the framework of individually designed Academies, we offer larger teams formats to let their research results have more impact in business and society.

What we offer:

  • Start: anytime by arrangement
  • Duration: adapted to the organizational unit | Application: any time
  • Effort: by arrangement
  • Target group: research teams of 15 or more participants

How it works:
At MyAcademy, we jointly develop the content and methodological design of relevant focal points within the team, e.g., the development of transfer strategies or portfolios. Furthermore, we support supervisors in promoting transfer potentials (similar to InnoSuper, see above) as well as researchers in finding and implementing their own transfer projects (similar to HAFIS, see above) - all this and more individually tailored to the own research group.

Have we sparked your interest? Feel free to contact us via mail, we will help you the best possible way and give you additional suggestions for focus topics that could be well treated in this format.
